Merry Christmas to those who are celebrating! And a very Happy Weekend to the rest! Despite being Jewish, I miss Christmas, and being in Israel, I feel unashamed at saying so. It’s like I don’t have to be vigilant in guarding my religious traditions by not celebrating others’. I made egg nog, and I found Christmas carols (love the #christmas tag-tuner), and we hung some fairy lights, and we ate a Bouche de Noel (French Yule Log Cake) and a Galette des Rois (Cake of the Kings – another French tradition).
AND these videos were the life of the party and made my week that much easier. I think they capture the spirit. If you have a few minutes, they’re intriguing or inspiring or hilarious. Enjoy!
Neil Gaiman Christmas poem. WOW:
Trouble with your Blackberry?
Yoga has been so underrepresented on Broadway:
PINA BAUSCH and WIM WENDERS (http://vimeo.com/17772908). I cannot wait to see this:

Nursing home talent contest. Hilarious!
I only saw 3 videos Irene so far on my iPhone and loved them. Thanks:)
Which ones did you see, mom? Did you take your ipad on vacation with you? I imagine it’s more useful for these kinds of things than the iphone.
I miss Christmas too,all those pretty things connected to it,which have nothing to do with the religious things, after all,Christmas originally was a pagan holiday. I went for a finnish Christmas dinner that a Finnish-jemenite family arranged, and it was great fun:-) And a few weeks ago I made a big batch of gingerbread cookies for the kids of the foreign workers.
I don’t understand – a Finnish-Yemenite family? Are the Christian or Jewish or half-half? Sounds very intriguing. I can imagine Christmas is quite magical in Finland. In Europe I’ve spent time in France, Belgium, Ireland, England, and Scotland during Christmastime. All a bit different, but lots of similarities, as compared to America, I think.
I love gingerbread cookies! Did you blog the recipe? I’ll go check now, but I’d love a good one…probably one of my very favorite cookies.
Glad you had a good holiday experience.
They are Jewish, but the Finnish wife, my friend, has converted to judaism. But every Christmas eve she arranges a big Christmas meal for her family and friends, with all the food that is typical to Finnish Christmas. I did not blog the recipe,as I found it on the site of the Finnish sugar company, but I can translate it to you ,if you want to.They were so yummy, and I will make a new batch soon ,I think.
Loved Gaiman and the one Ronnie take-off on Who’s on First. I used to make eggnog from an old Julia Child recipe and the Alton Brown is similar. Hope you don’t mind, but I have to post the one Ronnie on FB.
Hope all is well. Happy new year!
